Yoshino Post

Covering is when a person changes a part of their identity in order to fit in with the rest of society. Covering is not an ideal method of living life but the pressure to fit in and appear normal causes them to cover. Kenji Yoshino’s writing “Preface” in Covering: The Hidden Assault on Our Civil Rights” speaks about covering as when an individual covers themselves up to fit into society. Yoshino says “Everyone covers.” as the opening line to his preface; I believe thats true because I have watched many people close to me act differently and present themselves differently in front of others.
