I really like this quote from the author as I have never understood the point of writing. Writing should only be done if it is to be enjoyed or learned through middle school. By high school, kids are still forced to write after learning all of the basics to it and through college as well. I see no point to my endless English essays that just need to be graded. All of the work put into them is now for nothing because it will not be used in my future career. After learning how to write professional emails and important documents, what is the point of creative writing? I have always struggled with this concept as well as other things such as why am I learning about political theory when where I want to go with my life is in the complete opposite direction. I understand that from this writing we are supposed to learn something, however I do not believe in writing because we are forced to do it. If I want to write something about a topic I enjoy I would do it by my own volition.
