I believe that one’s identity is not predetermined and that everyone has room to choose who they want to be. Gay speaks about how people see women as a predetermined look where they actually get to choose who they are and fight against the social norms in different ways. Gay says “Women who don’t adhere to these standards are the fallen, the undesirable. They are bad women.” and I see this social normality all the time where it is with my friends or strangers. People judge women based on how they want them to be.
