Podcast Writing vs Academic Writing

Writing for a podcast means I need to change the way I am wording the paper and use simpler words that I would normally use when I speak. A podcast paper is also written like a script so the words can flow from bullet point to bullet point instead of getting lost in the words. Speaking from the podcast is easier with the podcast paper because it gives me a list of points I can make throughout the speaking. I am able to change the wording on the fly of what my paper says and if the interviewee says something I need to respond and can’t use the paper. The podcast paper limits me from putting more information about each thing I want to talk about but it allows me to get an idea of what someone else thinks and what their views on a topic are. I think an academic paper uses more sophisticated wording and can be much longer and have a lot more facts and I am able to make more points. These two papers are very different because in a podcast paper I am taking facts from my academic paper and shrinking the amount of words I can say and putting everything into simpler terms. The purpose of the academic paper is to follow a thesis and ususally prove it using background facts and knowledge to support it. The purpose of a podcast paper is to learn different ways of seeing a certain topic. The audience for the podcast was very receptive of what I was saying and had their own opinions which gives me another side to look at and learn from.
