For my interview conversation I will be talking to my father about past childhood experiences and inclusion in that.
I want to use interview guidelines 4, 7, 8, and 1 in order to improve these skills for myself as I do some of these frequently and do not use others enough.
Number 1 will help me to improve my ADHD as I tend to let my mind wander in conversation which causes me to not pay enough attention to a speaker. I frequently fiddle with things or bounce my leg and will try and avoid this during the conversation.
Point 4 will help me to move from topic to topic without sounding scripted as I get stressed out even talking to my father for an assignment. I need to be able to bounce from idea to idea without bringing them back up.
Number 7 is repeating myself which is something I do quite often and do not realize because I have a very short attention span and sometimes can’t remember words I already said.
Number 8 is trying to not get stuck with specifics and these don’t always hurt but when I get nervous I use them as a way to prolong what I am saying to remember other things I need to say.
Questions I want to ask:
What was your favorite experience as a child?
Was your childhood rough?
Mainly let him lead the conversation about this and try to listen to the stories and any advice he has to offer me.
